Jechon Festival a Must-See for Cinephiles and Rock Fans
The 9th Jecheon International Music and Film Festival will run its weeklong course from this Wednesday in Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province. A total of 95 films from 34 countries will be screened, and musical performances by 45 bands performed.
Tickets for the curtain-raiser, "Pop Redemption," sold out in just 20 minutes of being made available, and the movie is expected to draw music fans, as it revolves around metal, pop and folk music.
It focuses on the metal band Dead Macabes, whose members get in trouble and pretend to be folk singers -- despite loathing this genre -- to throw off the police. The movie satirizes people's prejudice against black metal, especially those who see it as "the Devil's music." It also pays homage to the Beatles and covers a wide range of genres.
